How to reset locked/forgotten root password on vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) 6.5?

Reboot the VCSA

Press ‘e’ to enter the GRUB screen

Enter ‘rw init=/bin/bash/ ‘ next to $photon_cmdline to boot the appliance in single user mode

Use passwd command to reset the password and reboot
